Erin McKeown Information
Erin McKeown (October 15, 1977) is an American folk-rock singer and multi-instrumentalist. He was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Today, he resides in Massachusetts. The folk scene was where McKeown got their start. While attending Brown University, they traveled around New England to promote their debut album, Monday Morning Cold. The album was published in 1999 on their label, TVP Records. They started off studying ornithology but earned an ethnomusicology degree from Brown.
With a more rock-oriented style, Tucker Martine's 2005 album by McKeown, We Will Become Like Birds, marked a change from their past work. McKeown explained to the crowd during a September 1, 2008 concert at The Gravity Lounge in Charlottesville, Virginia, that they created this album to try and "write out of the biggest heartbreak" she'd experienced up to that moment. Sing You Sinners, their subsequent studio album, was released by Nettwerk on January 9, 2007, in the United States and on October 23, 2006, in Europe. Most songs are covers of jazz standards from the 1920s through the 1950s.
On October 13, 2009, Righteous Babe Records released McKeown's album Hundreds of Lions. Currently, McKeown is a part of the unsigned group "Emma," which they founded with their buddy Allison Miller.
