Emily West Information
Emily Marie Nemmers (July 9, 1981) is an American singer and songwriter from Waterloo, Iowa, who performs under Emily West. She was taken to Bird-On-Fire Recording Studio in West Union by her parents in 1994. The owner, Doug Koempel, worked with her producing four demos entitled “Higher Love,” “Piece Of My Heart,” “Sweet Dreams,” and “Me And Bobby McGee.” In 2000, West moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and graduated from Waterloo West High School to become a country singer. Soon she signed a deal with a publishing company named Warner Chapell in Nashville. Later, West was signed to Capitol Records.
One of her first appearances was as a background vocalist on the album named The Metropolitan Hotel (2005) by Chely Wright. Her self-titled EP was released on December 11, 2007, via Capitol. “Rocks in Your Shoes” is a debut single by West that peaked in the Top 40 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. It was followed by another single entitled “That Kind of Happy” that came out in April 2009.
On September 25, 2009, Nemmers appeared on Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? and won $25,000. She was also on the “Shades of Blue” episode on Body of Proof on ABC on January 10, 2012. Some of her other notable discographies are EP “I Hate You, I Love You,” EP “Rocket Science,” “Cross My Heart,” “Made for the Radio,” “Wonderful Things,” and “Santa Baby.”
