Ely Buendia Information
Ely Eleandre Basiño Buendia (November 2, 1970) is a Filipino film director, musician, and author. Buendia was born in his parents' Naga City house. When he started playing the guitar at 7, his mother taught Kundiman for the first time. In 1983, Buendia completed his basic education at the Pasig Catholic College in Pasig and his high school studies at the University of Perpetual Help in Rizal. Later, Buendia enrolled at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, where he started several bands, including Sunday School and Bluidie Tryste, before settling on the Eraserheads.
In addition to co-starring with Eraserheads in the film Run Barbi Run, Buendia appeared in Rufa Mae Quinto's film Masikip Sa Dibdib in a cameo capacity. In this film, he performed "Keeper" by The Mongols on a live stage set with enthusiastic audiences. In the Filipino adaptation of MTV Asia's animated feature Intersection, Buendia was picked by MTV Philippines as a voice actor. Additionally, it is a USAID and MTV Exit anti-trafficking and exploitation campaign with music by Radiohead and Thievery Corporation.
In Saab Magalona's short film Spoonfeed, which stars Jaime Fabregas, Ccia Estocapio, and Saab Magalona, Buendia once again demonstrates his acting prowess. On October 16, 2008, Ely attended the Dekada Cinemanila inaugural ceremonies. The occasion also marked Ely's return to the business following surgery.
