Eivor Information
Eivør Pálsdóttir is a Faroese singer, actress, and songwriter. She was born and raised in Syrugta, and at the age of 13, she made her first broadcast performance. Her musical output has encompassed various genres throughout her decades-long career, including folk, art, pop, jazz, folk-rock, classical, and electronica.
Eivor joined Clickhaze as the lead singer at 15 in 1999. Eivor Pálsdóttir, her debut self-titled album, was released the following year.
Clickhaze won the Prix Froyar song competition in 2001. Eivor traveled to Reykjavik to study music in 2002, and in the same year, she released an album with the music ensemble Yggdrasil.
After the second solo album, Krákan, in 2003, she was nominated in three categories at the Icelandic Music Awards, winning Best Singer and Best Performer awards usually reserved for Icelandic musicians. Eivor worked on Tróndur I Gtu with English composer Gavin Bryars in 2008, duetting with bass vocalist Runi Brattaberg and based on the chieftain of the same name. On July 12, 2008, it was conducted at Gtugjógv.
Bridges and Slr, Eivor's companion albums, were published in 2017 and are sung in English and Faroese, respectively. In an interview with Stacja Islandia, she described the writing process as follows: "[It] kept coming to me in the form of a mirror image or reflection: I'd write a song in English, and then a lyric in Faroese would appear - a kind of mirror image or reflection. The majority of the songs were written in pairs. As a result, the albums are two distinct pieces that operate together. For the past two years, this has been my dream project." In the same year, she worked on the soundtrack for The Last Kingdom with John Lunn.
