Earls of Leicester Information
The Earls of Leicester is a bluegrass group. The current lineup consists of Jerry Douglas (dobro), Shawn Camp (guitar and lead vocals), Charlie Cushman (guitars and banjo), Johnny Warren (fiddle and vocals), Daniel Kimbro (vocals and bass), and Jeff White (vocals and mandolin). The group first got together in 2013 to introduce modern listeners to the music Lester Flatt, and Earl Scruggs recorded with their band, the Foggy Mountain Boys. In 2015, their self-titled debut album was recognized with a Grammy Award for being the best bluegrass album.
The band's name is a pun on the name of the city of Leicester, which in English is pronounced "Lester," which is also Flatt's first name, and the name "Earl," which is Scruggs' first name. The Earls and Bil Vorndick, who worked as the group's engineer and mixer, were honored with a Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album in 2014 for their album "The Earls of Leicester."
