DVBBS Information
Canadian duo Dvbbs go by the moniker "Dvbbs." The Van den Hoef brothers, Christopher and Alexandre, were born and raised in Orangeville, Ontario. Their mother is Greek Canadian, and their father is Dutch. The two-disc jockeys spent two years in the Greek capital of Athens. They're presently represented by Josh Herman of STRVCTVRE Artist Management and have bases in Los Angeles and Toronto.
The first EP by DVBBS, titled Initio, was released in March 2012 after the band spent two months recording it. This EP draws from various musical styles, including house, electronic, dubstep, and reggae. DVBBS rose to prominence after the success of their breakout EP "Initio" in 2012, with the release of the smash hit "Tsunami" the following year. The first platinum-selling single for the group, "Tsunami," has been streamed over a billion times online.
DVBBS is one of only 13 Canadian musicians to ever reach no. 1 on the Official UK Singles Chart with the vocal mix of the tune "Tsunami (Jump)" featuring English rapper Tinie Tempah in 2014. Besides the 12 platinum singles, they already have thanks to songs like "Tinted Eyes," "West Coast," "IDWK," "Tsunami," and "Not Going Home," the latter of which was nominated for Dance Recording of the Year at the 2018 Juno Awards.
