Garcia's early exposure to music produced by Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams sent her away from the mostly Spanish music she had grown up with. In the second grade, Garcia moved to Dallas. She listened to the radio to pick up on the city's hip-hop scene. She believes her exposure to several musical styles and forms during her formative years laid the groundwork for her later creative success. Garcia, aka DJ VRYWVY, bought her first DJ controller right before graduating high school in 2014. She went to YouTube, searching for "DJ tutorials for beginners," and never looked back.
The DJ in Dallas is now organizing concerts to boost Dallas's musical reputation beyond the Lone Star State. This Saturday, May 29, VRYWVY will host Que Calor, a party "for DJs, by DJs." Garcia hopes to introduce DJs from around the country to the people of Dallas. She hopes, however, that the visiting DJs will gain a newfound respect for the Dallas music community due to the experience.
Meanwhile, she has developed a clothing line, sold out back-to-back gigs, and been verified on Soundcloud, the most popular social media network for musicians, all inside the first four months of 2021. The DJ trained himself to play, and his resume includes collaborations with Netflix and Under Armour. She did some design work for Pharrell Williams' i am OTHER label, forming an artistic bond with the musician who introduced her to a new genre of music.
