DJ Shadow Information
Joshua Paul Davis (June 29, 1972) is better known as DJ Shadow as his stage name. He is an American DJ, songwriter, and record producer. DJ Shadow is from San Jose, California. His music style is described as hip hop, instrumental hip hop, trip-hop, electronica, turntablism, sampledelia, and ambient. His record collection is of over 60,000 records.
DJ Shadow began his career as a disc jockey. He worked for the University of California, Davis campus radio station (KDVS). "In/Flux" and "Lost and Found (S.F.L.)" are some of the early singles by him. Some of his remixes released on Hollywood BASIC are "BASIC Beats Sampler," "The Real Deal," a 12-plus-minute "Mega Mix," and a few more. Endtroducing..... was the first full-length work by DJ Shadow (1996). Preemptive Strike was another compilation of his early singles, which was released in 1998.
Some of the other discographies by DJ Shadow include The Outsider (2006), The Less You Know, the Better (2011), The Mountain Will Fall (2016), and Our Pathetic Age (2019). A few of his live albums are Brainfreeze 1999, Product Placement 2001, Live! In Tune and On-Time 2004, Live at Brixton Academy 2006, The Hard Sell 2007, and The Hard Sell (Encore) 2008.
In total, DJ Shadow has released six studio albums, six live albums, six compilation albums, five extended plays, 28 singles, two remix albums, two mix albums, and 14 music videos. He also launched a new record label entitled Liquid Amber, on August 12, 2014. Acts signed to this label are Noer the Boy, Mophono, Bleep Bloop, and Ruckazoid.
