Diyet was born in a tent and grew up in the Yukon Territory of Canada on the traditional territory of the Kluane First Nation. Diyet's musical persona is as multifaceted as her Southern Tutchone, Tlingit, Japanese, and Scottish roots because she comes from a traditional family that values adventure and hippy values.
She first found her singing voice on the school bus, earned a music degree, and is now a successful songwriter in Vancouver, BC. When she finally gave in to the North's allure, she and her Dutch husband uprooted and returned to their little, 90-person hometown, where there wasn't even a bar. Alternative country, folk, roots, and traditional with appealing songs and stories steeped in Diyet's Indigenous worldview and northern living characterize the music of Diyet & The Love Soldiers.
Diyet is a bass guitarist and singer who performs in English and her native Southern Tutchone. This Yukon-based multi-instrumental trio is backed by Robert van Lieshout (acoustic guitar, drums, and percussion), his husband and musical collaborator, and by Juno Award-winning producer Bob Hamilton (electric guitar, pedal steel, and mandolin).
