Thomas Wesley Pentz (November 10, 1978), better known by his stage name Diplo, is an American DJ, composer, and record producer born in Tupelo, Mississippi. Diplo is a part of the supergroup LSD alongside Sia and Labrinth. He is also the inventor and frontman of the electronic dancehall music act Major Lazer.
Diplo also co-founded the non-profit organization Heaps Decent and serves as its manager, record label Mad Decent. His EP Revolution peaked at #68 on the US Billboard 200 the week it was released in 2013.
Diplo's early career was sparked by his collaborations and relationship with British musician M.I.A. Major Lazer, whom he and fellow producer Switch later produced. Diplo has since collaborated on production and mixtape projects with several famous singers, including Britney Spears, Shakira, Beyoncé, Ellie Goulding, and Poppy.
In 2016, he received two Album of the Year Grammy nominations for his work as a producer (for Beyoncé's Lemonade and Justin Bieber's Purpose). He also contributed his voice to the song "Phurrr" from the Bollywood film Jab Harry Met Sejal, directed by Imtiaz Ali and starring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma.
Recorded in a London warehouse, the music video for "Waist Time" was released in January 2017 by Diplo and Autoerotique. In 2019, Diplo released a single titled "So Long" under the alias Thomas Wesley, which featured Cam, an American country artist.
