Diegos Umbrella Information
Known as an American gypsy rock band, Diego's Umbrella was formed in 2001 by Vaughn Lindstrom and Tyson Maulhardt. The band's current lineup consists of Vaughn Lindstrom (vocals and acoustic guitar), Jason Kleinberg (fiddle and vocals), Kevin Gautschi (vocals and electric guitar), Redcup (bass), and Jake Wood (drums). The group describes their music as a blend of traditional eastern European gypsy, rock & roll from the west, polka/ska rhythms, and Spanish flamenco.
Diego's Umbrella released their debut album entitled "Kung Fu Palace" in 2005. Several of the band's songs were featured in the X-Dance-award-winning documentary called Sofia. The band has also performed three songs in the Lionsgate comedy named Still Waiting.
Diego's Umbrella has been followed to "Gogol Bordello meets Muse" by the Associated Press. The band grew very slowly after its formation. Many of the members entered and left the group as they struggled to produce a consistent lineup. The band's notable studio albums include Viva La Juerga (2007), Double Panther (2009), Richardson b/w Downtown EP (2011) (Ninth Street Opus), Proper Cowboy (2012) (Ninth Street Opus), Songs for the Juerga EP (2015) (Juerga Productions), and Edjka (2017).
