Dent May Information
Dent May (May 6, 1985) is an American singer and songwriter. He was born in Jackson, Mississippi. He received his education at Jackson Prep, the New York University Film School, and Ole Miss, where he majored in English and Southern Studies. While there, he drew inspiration from the works of Lee Hazlewood and Serge Gainsbourg. In addition, May was a member of a power pop band from Mississippi known as The Rockwells.
He is currently under contract with the Paw Tracks record label, which is responsible for the publication of the albums The Good Feeling Music of Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele (2009), Do Things (2012), and Warm Blanket (2013). May was allowed to perform at the All Tomorrow's Parties Festival in 2011 by Animal Collective. May is credited with co-founding the "North Mississippi Infotainment Cult" organization and goes by Cats Purring. The group's headquarters may be located in Oxford, Mississippi, at the Cats Purring Dude Ranch.
