Della Mae Information
Della Mae is an American bluegrass band founded in Boston, Massachusetts, in 2009. The name of the group was taken from the song "Big Spike Hammer." Della Mae was formed by Amanda Kowalski, Grace van't Hof, Kimber Ludiker, and Avril Smith. The current lineup of Della Mae consists of Celia Woodsmith - vocals, guitar, Grace Van't Hof - vocals, banjo, Kimber Ludiker - fiddle, vocals, Jenni Lyn Gardner - mandolin, vocals, Courtney Hartman - guitar, banjo, vocals, Zoe Guigueno - bass, vocals, Shelby Means - bass, vocals, and Amanda Kowalski - bass, vocals.
The band released its first EP entitled "Della Mae: Acoustic EP" in 2010. The EP was followed by their debut album entitled I Built This Heart, which came out in 2011. It was followed by the second album entitled This World Oft Can Be, which was released in 2013. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award at the 56th Grammy Awards in 2014 for the category of Best Bluegrass Album.
In 2015, Della Mae released their self-titled and third album. After a massive break, the band released another album entitled Headlight, in 2020. The band founder was also named as IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year 2013.
