David Clayton-Thomas Information
David Clayton-Thomas is a Canadian songwriter, singer, and musician born in Kingston Upon Thames, Surrey. Thomas is also known as the lead vocalist of the band Blood, Sweat & Tears. He has also been inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Clayton-Thomas inherited his love for music from his mother, and after he received an old guitar, he began learning guitar all by himself.
David Clayton-Thomas began his music career in the early 1960s and discovered his love for singing and music while working at the clubs on Toronto’s Yonge Street. In 1967, Clayton-Thomas moved to New York City and fronted a few local bands during his time there. He received success just after a few years when he joined Blood, Sweat & Tears.
Thomas released his debut self-titled album in 1969 under the record label, Decca. Later, Clayton-Thomas signed a record deal with Columbia Records and in 1972, he released his debut solo album entitled “David Clayton Thomas.” In 1973, Clayton-Thomas released his second studio album entitled “Tequila Sunrise,” issued by Columbia.
Clayton-Thomas has worked with several record labels to date, including Repertoire, Columbia Records, RCA Records, ABC Music, Stony Plain, DCT, Fontana North/ Maple core, Justin Time, Fuel, Audio & Video Labs, Inc, Antoinette/ IIs, and Universal. His notable albums include Harmony Junction, Blue Plate Special, Aurora, In Concert: A Musical Biography, The Evergreens, Spectrum, and A Blues for the New World.
