Dave Barnes Information
David Mckee Barnes is a singer, musician, and songwriter who is from Nashville, Tennessee. He was born in South Carolina, but later his family moved to Kosciusko, Mississippi. During his junior year of high school, his family again relocated to Knoxville, Tennessee, where he graduated from Farragut High School in 1996. He attended Middle Tennessee State University and earned a degree in Recording Industry Management. During his time at University, Barnes spent his time playing the guitar and writing songs for fun. He began performing on the campus due to the encouragement of his peers and later began performing at various nearby universities in the region.
In 2002, Barnes graduated and started touring. He released a five-song EP "Three, Then Four" in the same year as a guitar-and-vocals release. A full-band studio LP followed his first release, and Barnes released an album entitled "Brother, Bring The Sun" in September 2004. He also co-produced the five-song EP "Today & Tomorrow" for his friend Matt Wertz in 2005.
Some of the other studio albums by Barnes are Chasing Mississippi March 21, 2006; Me and You and the World April 1, 2008; What We Want, What We Get April 6, 2010; Stories to Tell March 13, 2012; Carry On, San Vicente March 18, 2016; Who Knew It Would Be So Hard To Be Myself February 9, 2018; and Dreaming In Electric Blue April 3, 2020.
Two of his Christmas albums are Very Merry Christmas and A December to Remember. Barnes also released EPs entitled Hymns for Her, Who Knew It Would Be So Hard (Vol. 2), and a few more. He also won the Dove Award 2018 and was nominated for a CMA Award and a Grammy Award in 2012.
