DaRude Information
Toni-Ville Henrik Virtanen (July 17, 1975) is a Finnish record producer and DJ known by his stage name, Darude. He was born in Eura, Satakunta. The progressive/uplifting style is a trademark of his music. He began his musical career in 1995; by 1999, his single "Sandstorm" had gone platinum. Before the Storm, his first studio album was released on September 18, 2000, and sold 800,000 copies worldwide. The album also earned Darude three Finnish Grammy Awards.
It reached number one on the Official List in Finland and number six on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart in the United States. Rush, Darude's second studio album, debuted at number four in Finland and number eleven on the Billboard dance chart in 2003. Label This!, his third album, was published in 2007. Gawker applauded the album's lead song, "In the Darkness," even though the album did not perform as well on the charts.
Through the record label he co-founded in 2011, EnMass Music, he has released several mix albums based on his radio program, Salmiakki Sessions. Moments, his most recent studio album, was released on August 14, 2015, and he went on a fall tour of the United States and Canada. He had previously performed at festivals like Tomorrowland's tenth-anniversary show in 2014 and Future Music Festival in 2015.
