Darren Criss (February 5, 1987) is an American singer, songwriter, and actor born in San Francisco, California. Criss went to school having Roman Catholic teachers. He went to Stuart Hall for Boys for elementary school and St. Ignatius College Preparatory for high school, where he graduated in 2005. After studying theater performance, musicology, and Italian at the University of Michigan, Criss earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2009.
The news that Criss would be an executive producer and performer in a Hollywood film set to premiere on Netflix on May 1, 2020, was reported on September 6, 2019. Criss played the role of The Caretaker in Muppets: Haunted Mansion in October 2021.
"Starting Now" was released by Brandy in March 2021 and was co-written by Criss. In August of 2021, the song was premiered on the Disney Channel and Disney+ as part of the music special Disney Princess Remixed—An Ultimate Princess Celebration, featuring other princesses.
Decca Records published Criss's debut Christmas album on October 8, 2021. Criss embarked on a Christmas-themed tour across the United States using songs from the album in December 2022. He co-starred with Sam Rockwell and Laurence Fishburne in the 2022 Broadway production of American Buffalo, written by David Mamet, from April 14 to July 10.
