Dam-Funk Information
American funk artist, vocalist, and producer Dâm-Funk (styled as DM-FunK; pronounced "Dame-Funk") was born Damon Garrett Riddick on June 15, 1971, in Pasadena, California. Stones Throw Records is a record company in Los Angeles, and Riddick signed with them in 2007.
"A sensation of hardship and maintaining cool through it all," as Dam puts it, is at the heart of funk. Pasadena, a city and suburb of Los Angeles, is where Dam-Funk spent most of his childhood. Born in the 1970s, he grew up during the time of Prince's purple reign and Uncle Jamm's Army celebrations.
Riddick's notable singles include "Damn, dis-more," "Faden Away," "What's on Your Mind," "Hood Pass Intact," "Let's Take Off (Far Away)," "It's My Life," "Japan Groove," and "Burgundy City." He has also released many extended plays, such as LA Series no. 7 (2010), InnaFocusedDaze (2011), I Don't Wanna Be A Star! (2012), STFU (2015), Architecture (2016), Nite Funk (2016), and STFU II (2019).
