Culture Club Information
The English pop group Culture Club came together in London back in 1981. Former member Jon Moss has been replaced by current members Boy George, Roy Hay, and Mikey Craig. They emerged in the New Romantic movement and are now remembered as one of the most emblematic and consequential bands of the '80s.
More than 50 million records have been sold by the band, with over 6 million BPI-certified records sold in the UK and over 7 million RIAA-certified records sold in the US under the leadership of singer and frontman Boy George. His androgynous dressing style captures the public's and the media's attention in the early 1980s. Do You Really Want to Hurt Me, Church of the Poison Mind, Karma Chameleon, Time (Clock of the Heart), I'll Tumble 4 Ya, Move Away, and I Just Wanna Be Loved are just a few.
Between 1982 and 1999, they had twelve singles in the Top 40 in the United Kingdom, including the top two (both number ones) of that period: "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" and "Karma Chameleon," the latter of which was the best-selling single in the United Kingdom in 1983.
