Cross Rags and Young is an American trio that is famous for bringing people together with their exciting music. The trio consists of Grady Cross (guitar), Randy Ragsdale (drums), and Jason Young (singer and songwriter). All three members are the former Cross Canadian Ragweed members. Cross Rags and Young offers a unique style on the red dirt-meets-Texas country sound.
Grady Cross picked up a guitar when he was just 13 years old. His musical influences in early age were Tom Petty, Warren Haynes, Willie Nelson, and Merle Haggard. He knew in his childhood that his future would lead him to become a musician at the end. On the other hand, Randy Ragsdale began to play drums when he was just nine years old. In 1994, he got a big break and founded Cross Canadian Ragweed. Jason Young started singing as a kid in church. It opened the love for singing in his heart, but when he grew up over time, he walked away from music in his teens. This happened due to the reason; he noticed that his voice has begun to change. However, he began singing once again after graduating from high school in 1995.
In 2010, Cross Canadian Ragweed got disbanded. Ragsdale and Cross took a break after splitting, which was much needed. This break allowed themselves to live a family life and focus on all the other things that they were unable to focus on for almost 16 years of touring. On the other hand, Young was hustling to build his name as a solo artist. He was performing on the Oklahoma and Texas music scenes. Time passed, and Ragsdale started sitting in with Young occasionally during his local gigs, and that sparked the inner musician once again.
