Corey Kent (June 21, 1994) is an American country music singer. Joining a touring Western Swing ensemble at the tender age of eleven, Kent learned the ropes of road life at an early age. He and his "working class" bandmates traveled the nation for five years before calling it quits. He almost dropped out of high school because he had no idea what to do next. However, a turning point came when he was unexpectedly dragged off the audience and joined Willie Nelson on stage, where he was encouraged to begin writing songs and find his true calling.
As doors began to open, Corey embarked on a nightclub tour of Oklahoma and Texas, opening for acts such as Cody Johnson, Kolby Cooper, Parker McCollum, and Randy Rogers. With the release of "Wild as Her" in 2022, Corey finally broke through to the Billboard charts. At the end of 2022, the song made it onto the charts because of its success on streaming sites. This track is the album's sequel to 21, Kent's second studio effort.
"Wild as Her" soared to the top of the country radio charts in May of 2023 after amassing over 300 million streams in its debut year. It was certified platinum in March of the same year. On June 2, 2023, RCA Nashville published Blacktop, Kent's third studio album and first release on a big label. On July 10, 2023, the second single, "Something's Gonna Kill Me," was released.
