Coral Bells Information
Joshua McCleskey and Kaley Morlock moved to the sleepiest beach town in Southern California in the summer of 2014. They weren't the Coral Bells back then, just a couple of Oklahoma folk artists who took a chance on a town they'd never visited. Their evacuation took them to Imperial Beach, which became an unintentional element of the Coral Bells' identity. Jimmy Schmitz, a longtime buddy and mandolin player, relocated six months after his visit to join the trio frequently seen at farmer's markets and busking in Ocean Beach.
It wasn't long until they stumbled into fellow Imperial Beach artist and transplant, Bostonian Matt Rogan. They decided they needed to get organized enough to play genuine shows in front of people after multiple rooftop campfire jam sessions. Coral Bells' 2020 EP Treehouse Tapes received the best Americana Album at the 2021 San Diego Music Awards. They've been featured on KPBS, NPR, 91x, Palomar College Radio, NBC SoundDiego, SD Voyager Magazine, and the San Diego Tribune. "Still Be Home," their third EP, was released in July 2021 and was produced, engineered, and mixed by Scott Seader, with Moses Mastering in Nashville handling the mastering.
