Cooder Graw Information
In 1998, the members got together to establish the band. The song "Llano Estacado" became popular after being used in several Dodge ads. Cooder Graw is unusual in the music industry because its founding members were in their 30s and 50s when they started making music together. Matt Martindale, the lead singer, used to work as an assistant district attorney in Gray County, Texas.
Since another band already used "Coup de Grâce," they adopted a "Texas version." The band's self-produced debut album, Home at the Golden Light, featured mostly cover songs. The year 1998 saw its release. Cooder Graw, the band's debut full-length album, was released in the United States in late 1999.
Cooder Graw has performed widely across Texas and the United States as a headliner and an opening act. The band also performed at the premiere of McConaughey's film EDtv. Cooder Graw declared in 2006 that their final concert would be together. Their final performance occurred in Fort Worth, Texas, on December 31, 2006. Matt Martindale, the former lead singer, now fronts a new band under the same name.
