Concetta Rosa Maria Franconero (December 12, 1937) is a former actress and pop singer. She is professionally known as Connie Francis. She is known as one of the top-charting female vocalists of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Francis remained a top concert draw even after her chart success waned in the second half of the 1960s. She was born to an Italian-American family in Newark, New Jersey. She attended Newark Arts High School from 1951 to 1952. Francis and her family moved to Belleville, New Jersey, where she graduated as salutatorian from Belleville High School Class of 1955.
Francis started her professional career by performing at neighborhood festivities and talent shows while still studying in high school. She appeared with both Connie Franconero and Concetta Franconero. Francis has also appeared on NBC’s variety show Startime Kids between 1953 and 1955. She released the live album in 1996 entitled, The Return Concert: Live at Trump’s Castle. The same year, Francis released, With Love To Buddy, a tribute album of songs famously made by the late Buddy Holly.
Francis also headlined a show in Las Vegas for the first time after 1989 in December 2004. During March and October 2007, she performed sold-out shows at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco. Francis has also appeared in concerts in Manila, the Philippines, on Valentine’s Day in 2008. She released her most recent autobiography, Among My Souvenirs, in December 2017.
