Confederate Railroad Information
Confederate Railroad is a country-rock band founded in 1987 in Marietta, Georgia. The founding members of the band are Danny Shirley, Michael Lamb, Mark Dufresne, Wayne Secrest, Chris McDaniel, and Gates Nicholas. However, the current lineup of the group includes Danny Shirley, Rusty Hendrix, Mark Dufresne, Mo Thaxton, Joey Recker. The founding members began playing at the bars during the early days of the group playing around Augusta, Georgia, and Atlanta, Georgia. The members also worked as a road band for Johnny Paycheck and David Allan Coe.
Confederate Railroad signed with Atlantic Records in 1992 and released their self-titled debut album. Six hit singles were produced through this album. The album was certified 2x platinum in the United States, and the ACM awards honored the band with the “Best New Group” award in 1993. Some of the notable singles by the band are “She Never Cried,” “Trashy Women,” “When You Leave That Way You Can Never Go Back,” “Queen of Memphis,” “Jese and Mama,” and “She Took It Like a Man.”
Confederate Railroad has worked with a few record labels, including Atlantic Records, Audium, Shanachie, E1 Music, and Sony. The band’s major studio albums include Notorious (March 22, 1994), When and Where (June 13, 1995), Keep on Rockin’ (October 20, 1998), Unleashed (August 28, 2001), Cheap Thrills (April 24, 2007), and Lucky to Be Alive (July 15, 2016). The group also released some Live and Compilation albums, including Country Classics, The Essentials, The Very Best of Confederate Railroad, and Live: Back to the Barroom.
