Collin Raye Information
Floyd Elliot Wray (August 22, 1960) is an American country music singer born in De Queen, Arkansas. His mother was a local musician, which turned out to be his musical influence during his childhood. She brought Collin and his brother Scott on the stage to sing harmony vocals. In the 1980s, both brothers started a band called the Wray Brothers Band. The group primarily performed in Texas, Reno, Oregon, and Corvallis. The group signed to Mercury Records in 1986.
Floyd Elliot Wray altered his last name to Raye and signed a record deal with Epic Records in 1990. The debut single “All I Can Be (Is a Sweet Memory)” entered the charts in 1991. His first album, also entitled “All I Can Be,” was released soon after this single. Raye released another hit single, a ballad co-written by Skip Ewing entitled “Love, Me.” It reached number one on the country music charts in 1992 and remained in the peak position for nearly three weeks. The final single for his album was “Every Second,” which reached number 2 on Billboard.
Raye released his second album entitled “In This Life” in 1992. The title track for the album served as its lead-off single. Other notable albums by Raye include Extremes, I Think About You, Christmas: The Gift, The Walls Came Down, Tracks, Can’t Back Down, Twenty Years and Change, Fearless, and Never Going Back.
