Claude Vonstroke Information
Barclay Macbride Crenshaw (July 7, 1971) is an American DJ and house producer known by the stage name Claude VonStroke. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he is currently based in Los Angeles. Claude VonStroke’s music is tech house, deep house, house, minimal, and ghettotech. He had a radio show while he was in high school. Initially, Crenshaw had an interest in hip-hop music, which later shifted towards electronic music.
Crenshaw is the owner of Dirtybird Records, which is based in San Francisco. The label is recognized as a top independent electronic music label worldwide. Dirtybird was named “label of the decade” by Mixmag in 2017, with some of their notable artists being Steve Darko, Walker & Royce, Justin Martin, and Green Velvet.
Crenshaw worked on several movie productions as a production assistant and location scout after relocating to Los Angeles. He worked on the documentary entitled Intellect: Techno House Progressive from 2002 to 2003, where he interviewed 50+ well-known DJs in the documentary. Crenshaw released his debut album entitled Beware of the Bird in July 2006 and produced a ‘Fabric’ mix in 2009.
Some other notable studio albums are 2009: Bird Brain, 2013: Urban Animal, 2017: Barclay Crenshaw, and 2020: Freaks & Beaks. Crenshaw has released many hit singles such as 2006: Who’s Afraid of Detroit?, 2009: Beat That Bird (with Justin Martin), and 2010: California (with J Phlip). His popular remixes are 2006: Andy Caldwell – Warrior; 2007: Mighty Dub Katz – Magic Carpet Ride; 2010: Cajmere – Percolator; and 2015: Disclosure – Omen.
