Clark Beckham (May 15, 1992) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He is best known for finishing as the runner-up on the fourteenth season of American Idol. He earned a bachelor's degree in history from Lee University. The majority of Beckham's musical experience came from playing in churches and on street corners. Beckham auditioned for American Idol, singing James Brown's "It's a Man's, Man's World." He was the first contestant to sing in front of the judges in the first city, Nashville, Tennessee.
Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban approved Beckham, but disapproved by Harry Connick Jr. Beckham passed the test with a split decision. He performed "Let's Get It On" and "Try a Little Tenderness" during Hollywood Week. He earned a spot in the Top 24 after singing "Georgia on My Mind" at the House of Blues showcase.
Beckham has turned his post-Idol experience into a YouTube video channel dedicated to American Idol. He appeared on the Talent Recap show in May 2021 to talk about the nineteenth season finale. Beckham will also star in the film An Old Song, which will be released later this year. Beckham was also nominated for the Teen Choice Awards' Choice Music: Next Big Thing category in 2015.
