Chvrches Information
Chvrches is a Glasgow-based Scottish synth-pop band that started in September 2011. Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook, Martin Doherty, and Jonny Scott make up the band’s current roster. Chvrches’ music is primarily synth-pop, although they also integrate indietronica, indie pop, and electronic dance. In March 2013, two years after their inception, Chvrches released the Recover EP, which featured the singles “The Mother We Share” and “Recover.” The Bones of What You Believe, their debut studio album, was released on September 20, 2013, and the band placed sixth on the BBC’s Sound of 2013 list.
Chvrches made their US television debut on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on June 19, 2013, singing “The Mother We Share.” Chvrches backed Depeche Mode on four concerts during The Delta Machine Tour 2013 in July 2013. They also played “The Mother We Share” on Later... with Jools Holland in September 2013. They released the song “Gun” on July 15, 2013. Every Open Eye, the group’s second album, was released two years later, on September 25, 2015. Love Is Dead, their third album, was released on May 25, 2018.
For the concluding credits of the film Vampire Academy, Chvrches performed Bauhaus’ song” ‘Bela Lugosi’s Dead.” David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Iggy Pop, Siouxsie, the Banshees, Tangerine Dream, and Nick Cave were named idols. In an underground studio in Glasgow, the band writes, records, mixes, and masters its music. The band performed at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Manchester, Tennessee, in June 2016, and the Flow Festival in Helsinki, Finland, in mid-August 2016.
