Chris Greene Quartet Information
Chris Greene, the saxophonist and composer was born in Evanston. He honed his musical chops in Evanston High School's acclaimed Wind and Jazz Ensembles. When he was just a teen, he joined several successful local pop/rock and jazz ensembles. Greene later enrolled at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, where he studied cello under world-renowned professor and jazz scholar David Baker.
After moving back to Chicago in 1994, Greene has played with some of the country's most innovative and adaptable musicians. Greene performs in a wide variety of settings and styles. The Chris Greene Quartet, which he fronts, has received rave reviews. In addition to Common, The Temptations, Eric Roberson, Ed Motta, Steve Coleman & Five Elements, Maysa Leak, Ten City, Sheena Easton, Steve Cole, Michael Manson, Andrew Bird, The J. Davis Trio, Chris Rob, Vic Lavender, Jesse De La Pena, Liquid Soul, and The Mighty Blue Kings, he has performed or recorded with these artists.
Aside from scoring the recent Chicago Children's Theatre production of "Bud, Not Buddy," Chris Greene was featured in the "Play On" episode of the FOX-TV show "Empire."
