Carm Information
Carm is the solo project of trumpeter, multi-instrumentalist, and horn arranger CJ Camerieri. However, traditional rock instruments aren't only included; samples, programmed drums, and electronics are also often added. The regular Bon Iver collaborator's debut album, CARM (2021), features guest vocals from Justin Vernon.
CJ Camerieri, a native of New Jersey, began recording sessions with artists such as Sufjan Stevens, the National, and Rufus Wainwright in the mid-to-late-2000s. In 2008, he co-founded the chamber sextet yMusic, which has since released albums of original instrumental pieces and collaborated extensively in the independent music scene. Over the next decade or so, in addition to his work with yMusic, Camerieri contributed to Paul Simon's Stranger to Stranger (2016), Taylor Swift's Evermore (2020), and Bon Iver's self-titled 2011 album (which won a Grammy).
For his debut under the alias CARM, Camerieri released an album in 2021. In January that year, Camerieri and Ryan Olson released a self-titled album on the 37d03d label. Various indie artists featured on the album, including Justin Vernon, Sufjan Stevens, and Mouse on Mars, contributed instrumental tracks or vocals to the album.
