Friends and DJ partners Joel Albers and Andrew Verner created the Candi Pop dance party, experience, and movement based on the music they enjoy. Before they established this event, clubs and dance floors were silent or played mainly hip-hop or EDM by DJs trying too hard to be "cool."
When they were alone with their pals at someone's place, they all agreed that the '80s/'90s and modern bubblegum-pop tunes were the most fun to dance and sing along to. The kind of music that no disc jockey in their right mind would play back in the day. Thus, Candi Pop was initially developed because of a lack of available alternatives. Lights & Music Collective's sparkly, bubblegum-pop dance party Candi Pop is now broadcast live weekly on Twitch's popular streaming service due to the epidemic.
Andrew Verner, one of the party's co-creators, discussed the changes in the LA club scene and its implications for Candi Pop and other venues across the country. Although they've just started organizing internet parties, their attention to detail, commitment to delivering the finest experience possible, and their enthusiasm for the genre they play have always separated them from the rest.
