CamelPhat Information
CamelPhat is a DJ and production duo that has been actively playing since 2004, founded in Liverpool. The pair consists of Dave Whelan and Mike Di Scala. The members are well-known for their single named “Cola” that was released in 2017, which reached number three on the UK Dance Chart and number 18 on the UK Singles Chart. Cola was a collaboration single with the UK dance act Elderbook. CamelPhat has worked with several record labels since they are active, including All Around the World, Axtone, Bachelor Pad, CR2, Defected, Glasgow, Underground, Nervous, RCA, Spinnin’ Deep, Suara, Toolroom, Ultra, and Vice.
CamelPhat was founded when Mike Di Scala and Dave Whelan met each other in Liverpool record shop, 3 Beat Records. They began producing music together for The Chosen Few, and as a duo, they released several remixes under different names such as Da Mode, Men from Mars, and The Bassline Hustlers. The duo released its first recordings as CamelPhat in 2010 on their record label named Vice Records. They initially wore wrestling masks just to conceal their identity because their thought was that people would judge the music, not them.
CamelPhat has a long list of extended plays that they have released so far such as Global (2010), Made in Italy (2010), Kill the Vip (2010), Vice Summer 2011 (2011), One Hump or Two (2012), Hangin’ with Charlie (2017), and several others.
