Caleb Lee Hutchinson (March 2, 1999) is an American country singer-songwriter from Dallas, Georgia. Hutchinson was the runner-up on American Idol’s 16th season. He began playing guitar at 12 and appeared on The Voice in 2015 when he was 16 but was unsuccessful. Hutchinson graduated from South Paulding High School in 2017. The next year, he gave the audition for American Idol and performed the song “If It Hadn’t Been for Love” from The SteelDriver.
Some of the notable songs performed by Hutchinson on American Idol are “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” (Top 10), “Die a Happy Man” (Top 24), “When Doves Cry and “Amazed” (Top 7), “Midnight Train to Memphis” (Top 14), “So Small” and “Stars in Alabama” (Top 5). After his performance on the show, singing the song “Johnny Cash Heart,” it was released. The song came out in 2018 and charted at number 16 on the Country Digital Song Sales chart within the 1st week. Hutchinson released a self-titled EP on June 28, 2019, produced by Kristian Bush of Sugarland, and included two songs, “Left of Me” and “Better Now” (cover of Post Malone’s song).
