Buku Information
BUKU Music + Art Project is an American music and arts festival that continues for two days every year at Mardi Grass World in New Orleans. The festival was founded in 2012 by Winder Circle Productions. The festival considers itself a boutique event that delivers such a big festival punch without compromising its actual house-party vibe. BUKU was established to serve as a primary platform for the underground arts community of New Orleans and the intersection of pop culture.
BUKU combines local food vendors with international musicians, various surprise pop-up street performers, and local visual artists throughout the site. The festival’s musical taste is a mixture of indie rock, hip hop music, and electronic dance music. The past performances include Ellie Goulding, Future, Seth Troxler, RL Grime, Pretty Lights, Porter Robinson, Kendrick Lamar, deadmau5, Flosstradamus, Alt-J, Major Lazer, Excision, Nas, Illenium, A$AP Rocky Travis Scott, MGMT, Migos, Kid Cudi, Lana Del Rey, Bassnectar, and several others.
BUKU also curates a program of surprise pop-up performers and revelers ranging from mobile DJ, flow artists, circus troupe performers, break-dancers, and bounce dancers. The festival was also rebranded under the direction of Paper Diamond, an electronic music producer, and designer, in 2019.
