Built to Spill is an American indie rock band that is based in Boise, Idaho. The group has been active since 1992. The music style of the Built to Spill is described as the Indie rock genre. It was founded by former Treepeople guitarist/vocalist Doug Martsch along with Brett Netson and Ralf Youtz. The current three members included in Built to Spill are Doug Martsch, Melanie Radford, and Teresa Esguerra. Ultimate Alternative Wavers was the first album by the band, which was released in 1992.
Some of other releases by Built to Spill included 1994's There's Nothing Wrong with Love, Perfect from Now On (1997), Keep It Like a Secret (1999), Ancient Melodies of the Future (2001), You in Reverse (2006), There Is No Enemy (2009), Untethered Moon (2015), and Built to Spill Plays the Songs of Daniel Johnston (2020). The band also released hit extended plays such as Built to Spill Caustic Resin (January 28, 1995), Carry the Zero (1999), Center of the Universe, Sabonis Tracks 2001, and The Electronic Anthology Project (2010).
In total, Built to Spill has released eight studio albums, one live album, one compilation album, ten music videos, five EPs, and twenty-three singles. In the year 1995, the group played on the Lollapalooza tour. It also appeared as a guest in many singles by other artists as well as collaborated on the song "Still Flat" which was for the AIDS benefit album Red Hot + Bothered. A few of the hit singles by Built the Spill are "They Got Away"/"Re-Arrange," "They Got Away," "Hindsight," and a few more.
