Brittany Howard (October 2, 1988) is an American musician born in Athens, Alabama. Leading vocalist and guitarist for the American rock band Alabama Shakes, Howard is widely recognized for his talents. Howard was asked to join Paul McCartney onstage for a duet of "Get Back" at Lollapalooza in 2015. At Eddie Murphy's Mark Twain Prize celebration, Howard also performed. Billboard presented Howard with the "Powerhouse" Award for Women in Music in 2015.
Brittany Howard announced a North American and European tour in June 2019 in conjunction with the release of her debut solo album Jaime on September 20, 2019. Stay High, Howard's next single, features actor Terry Crews lip-syncing in the music video released on July 16, 2019. Howard reworked her 1971 hit "Stay High" and released a cover of the Funkadelic's "You and Your Folks, Me and My Folks" on April 15, 2020.
An "appropriate musical remedy" to help people survive lockdown and quarantine was suggested by KRCW called Stay High. The lead single from Howard's second studio album, What Now, was released on October 13, 2023. The same year, Rolling Stone's "250 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" list included Howard.
