Brett Kissel Information
Brett Kissel is a country songwriter and singer from Flat Lake, Alberta. Kissel was a fifth-generation Albertan who grew up on a cattle ranch in northeastern Alberta's Flat Lake region with his siblings. Kissel got his first guitar when he turned six; it was a gift from his grandmother. He took lessons for one year in his hometown and frequently attended further guitar-playing style lessons at the Freddie Pelletier Guitar Camp.
In 1995, during a chance meeting, Kissel met Alberta country star and philanthropist along with fundraising auctioneer Danny Hooper. This meeting is said to be Kissel's first public performance, where he was called on stage by Hooper to perform his local hit "The John Deere Tractor Keys.”
Keepin' It Country was the first album co-produced by Freddie Pelletier and Kissel, and recorded when he was only 12. The album included two Cash songs entitled "Big River" and "Tennessee Flat Top Box." The album was officially released on September 12, 2003. Some of the other notable albums by Kissel are By Request, Tried and True – A Canadian Tribute, Started with a Song, We Were That Song and many more. "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" and "Not So Perfect Christmas" are two Christmas singles by Kissel.
Brett Kissel earned many awards throughout his career such as Juno Award 2014, Association of Country Music in Alberta Awards 2014, and Canadian Country Music Association 2015.
