Brenda Wireka Mensah (November 18, 1992) is an English rapper, singer, and songwriter born in Hackney, London. She is professionally known by her stage name, Bree Runway. Runway first appeared as a solo artist in 2015 and 2016, when she dropped the self-released EPs RNWY 01 and Bouji. The song "Butterfly" was Runway's first commercial release, and it was made available to the public in November 2016. The accompanying music video, starring model Leomie Anderson and directed by Runway, was filmed in Dubai.
Bree Runway's "What Do I Tell My Friends?" was released on September 21, 2017, with an accompanying music video. As her first video to reach over 100,000 views, it would garner much attention and appreciation for its powerful message about exploiting young women in the fashion business. Released in February of 2018, "Word of Mouth" is a British electronic duo Metroplane single featuring Bree Runway vocals.
Bree made her debut on a major label with the release of the track "2ON" in May 2019. Eventually, the song would make it onto a list of the year's best songs compiled by the critics at Paper. Toyota's C-HR Leave Ordinary Behind advertising campaign would also feature the song. Released in July of 2019, "Big Racks" features Brooke Candy.
