Blessid Union of Souls, abbreviated as Blessid Union or BUOS, is an American alternative rock band founded in 1990 and originated from Cincinnati, Ohio. The group's music is classified as jangle pop, power pop, pop-rock, alternative rock, and Christian rock. The band's current lineup consists of Eliot Sloan, Chris Arduser, Brian Lovely, David Lessing, and Dave Ramos. Some of the past members include Tony Clark, Kyle Robinson, and CJ Lambert. The group's name was heavily influenced by the cowpunk scene from an episode of the TV series M*A*S*H.
Blessid Union of Souls began its career in 1992 by sending a demo to EMI Records and immediately signing a contract. The band released its debut album entitled Home in 1993. "I Believe" was the most popular song, and the album was certified gold by RIAA and platinum. Their second album was self-titled, released in 1997. It was followed by Walking Off the Buzz in 1999. Other notable studio albums are Perception 2005, Close to the Edge 2008, and The Mission Field 2011.
Blessid Union of Souls released three compilation albums called Blessid Union of Souls: The Singles, Almost Acoustic (Volume 1), and Playlist: The Very Best of Blessid Union of Souls. A few of the hit singles by the group include "Let Me Be the One," "Light in Your Eyes," "Hey Leonardo (She Likes Me for Me)," "Standing at the Edge of the Earth," and "Could've Been with You."
