William Harold Dean Jr. (April 2, 1962) is an American country music singer-songwriter from Quincy, Florida. His father, Billy Dean, partook in a band called The Country Rocks as a sideband handed over to Dean when he was just eight. Dean attended Robert F. Munroe Day School, and at the same time, continued to play music. At his high school graduation, Dean sang Frank Sinatra's "My Way," and soon, he started to tour in local clubs. He played basketball in high school and earned a scholarship to East Central Community College in Decatur. Dean attended college for one year before deciding to pursue his music career.
During his initial years as a musician, Dean worked as a demo singer and took acting lessons. He has sighted in television commercials for McDonald's, Valvoline, and Chevrolet. "Lowdown Lonely" was the first single by Dean, followed by "Only Here for a Little While." The second song was released from his debut album Young Man. In 1991, Dean released another album, which was self-titled.
Some of his other notable albums are Fire in the Dark, Men'll Be Boys, and It's What I Do. Dean has released many hit singles, including "You Don't Count the Cost," "Only the Wind," "If There Hadn't Been You," "Billy the Kid," and "Tryin' to Hide a Fire in the Dark." In 1991, Dean toured with The Judds on their farewell tour and Clint Black and Wynonna Judd. He also hosted a Top 21 countdown on VH1.
