Big Eyed Phish is the only Dave Matthews Tribute band that tours regionally. It is a full 7-piece tribute band that originated in Rochester, NY. The band was founded in September 2007. The current lineup of the group consists of Brandon Depaul ("Dave") - Lead Vocals, Guitar; Dan Merkey ("Jeff/LeRoi") - Sax, Backup Vocals, Cowbell; Jimmy Grillo ("Carter") – Drums; Shawn Rotolo ("Stefan") – Bass; Brian Dudiak ("Butch") – Keyboards; Mike Hoeschele ("Boyd") - Violin, Harmonica, Backup Vocals, and Jon Sheffer ("Tim") - Lead Guitar.
Big Eyed Phish is said to be the only group to be able to put on a unique show with different versions from all of the years of touring from Dave Matthews. From the past five years, the band has been performing and has grown into a group that is a highly sought-after headlining act in the Northeast region for festivals, casinos, resorts, and live music venues. Big Eyed Phish is also the only band that can claim to have a full-time lead guitar and keyboard player, making them the only accurate DMB Tribute in the nation.
Big Eyed Phish was a headlining act in many festivals, including Dunkirk Music Series, Presque Isle Music Series, the East End Festival, Party in the Park, Greensburg Concert Series, and many more. The band also has gigs as a headliner of Stratton Mountain and Jay Peak in Vermont and College Ski Week up in Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine. Some of its top successful shows at major music venues are The Westcott Theater in Syracuse, Rapids Theater in Niagara Falls, and the Water Street Music Hall in Rochester.
