Beth Nielsen Chapman Information
Beth Nielsen Chapman (September 14, 1958) is an American singer and songwriter born in Harlingen, Texas. Her family moved several times during her childhood. While she was 11, Chapman’s family settled in Germany, where she started playing guitar. At the same time, she was learning to play the piano. During her childhood, Chapman was inspired by Carole King, James Taylor, Tony Bennett, and Hoagy Carmichael’s music.
Chapman began playing with the rock and pop group “Harmony” in 1976. The band was based in Montgomery, Alabama. She effectively replaced Tommy Shaw, who had just left to join Styx. Chapman also provided vocals, acoustic guitar, and piano.
During the 1990s, she had numerous songs on the Adult Contemporary charts. Her most popular tracks include “All I Have,” “The Moment You Were Mine,” “Walk My Way,” and “I Keep Coming Back to You.” Chapman also sang a duet in 1993 with Paul Carrack on “In The Time It Takes.”
Chapman released her debut album entitled Hearing it First, in 1980. The next album was released in 1990 entitled “Beth Nielsen Chapman.” This album was a small breakthrough for her as it reached the US Heat chart and hit a few charts in Australia. Other notable albums include You Hold the Key (1993), Sand and Water (1997), Greatest Hits (1999), Deeper Still (200), Hymns (2004), Look (2005), Prism (2007), and If Love Could Say God’s Name DVD (2007).
