Benjamin Grosvenor Information
Benjamin Grosvenor (July 8, 1992) is a British classical pianist. He was born and brought up in Westcliff-on-Sea, Southend-on-Sea, Essex. At age five, Grosvenor started taking piano lessons from his mother. In 2003, he enrolled at Westcliff High School. In addition to studying with Christopher Elton in London, he receives instruction from Hilary Coates. During his time at the Royal Academy of Music, Grosvenor had lessons from renowned players, including Daniel-Ben Pienaar and Julian Perkins. In 2012, when he finished his Bachelor of Music degree, he was honored as the best student in his class by receiving the Queen's Award for Excellence.
Grosvenor played the piano and cello for the first time in public during a church recital in May 2003. Later that year, he made his orchestral debut with the Westcliff Sinfonia, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21. In 2004, he won the keyboard category of BBC Young Musician by performing Ravel's Concerto in G during the final concerto round. His early performances included ones at the Royal Albert Hall, St. George's, Bristol, Wigmore Hall, Barbican Centre, Usher Hall, Carnegie Hall, and Symphony Hall.
Following that, he embarked on a path that has taken him throughout the world and to the forefront of the industry. Grosvenor has collaborated with a wide variety of orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre National de France, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Gewandhausorchester, the Gürzenich Orchestra, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, and the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich.
