Ben Miller Band is an American ensemble founded in 2005 from Joplin, Missouri. The group’s music is blues, folk, country, and bluegrass. The current lineup consists of Ben Miller (lead vocalist and guitarist), Scott Leeper (bassist, drummer, and back-up vocalist), Smilin Bob Lewis (guitarist/bassist/percussionist), and Rachel Ammons (lead/back-up vocalist, violinist/cellist, guitarist, and electric-cactus player). The only past member of the group is Doug Dicharry (2005 - 2016).
Ben Miller Band describes its sound originally as “Ozark Stomp,” but the reference is given the name of “Mudstomp” when it comes to their label. The group released a pair of albums in 2010. The first was released on June 10, 2010, entitled 1 Ton, and the second one on August 5, 2010, named 2 Ton. Their hometown, Joplin, was destroyed in 2011 due to a tornado. To cope with this tragedy, the band decided to create a charity that will help the community restore. For the same cause, a benefit album was also created, Record for Joplin.
Ben Miller Band released another album in 2012 entitled Heavy Load. Some of their other notable albums are Any Way, Shape or Form (2014), and Choke Cherry Tree (2018). In 2013 the group earned a slot as the opener for ZZ Top. The group continues touring Europe and North America to gain an even stronger fan-following.
