Jake Herring (aka BabyJake), a singer and composer, rose to prominence in 2016 with the emotional single "Little Mess," a blend of dance music, soft rock, hip hop, and R&B. He made a comeback in 2018 with the upbeat, uplifting track "Miami."
Herring learned guitar at eight and grew up in Fort Myers, Florida. At the age of 14, he had already begun performing his compositions, which drew influence from artists such as Crosby, Stills & Nash, Jackson Browne, and John Mayer, as well as from his interest in hip hop and R&B. Debuting in 2016 as a college student; he released the EP Little Mess, which included the heartfelt title song lament.
A version of the song that Herring worked on with the producer!KE went viral online and amassed thousands of listens. However, he was dissatisfied with his education and wanted to devote more time to his creative pursuits, so he took a break from school for a while.
He moved to California and started performing under the moniker BabyJake. In 2018, he released the single "Miami," which featured his "urban pop" side, inspired by R&B and electronic music. In June 2019, BabyJake released their second song, "Cigarettes on Patios," followed by an extended play (EP) titled Don't Give Me Problems, Give Me Wine in 2020.
