Atlanta Rhythm Section Information
Atlanta Rhythm Section (ARS) is an American Southern rock band formed in 1971. The current lineup includes Dean Daughtry (backing vocals and keyboards), Rodney Justo (vocals), Steve Stone (harmonica and backing vocals), Justin Senker (bass), David Anderson (guitar and backing vocals), and Rodger Stephan (drums and backing vocals). The band released its first album in January 1972 entitled “Atlanta, Rhythm Section.”
Atlanta Rhythm Section released its second studio album, “Back Up Against the Wall,” in February 1973. The band later signed with Polydor, and in August 1974, the band released its third album, Third Annual Pipe Dream. The group released two more albums; Dog Days (August 1975) and Red Tape (April 1976). For a year, the band toured extensively across Midwest, Northwest, and South.
The Atlanta Rhythm Section appeared with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra on July 18, 1975. It was during an outdoor show in Chastain Park located in Atlanta. In August, the group opened for The Who at the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida. The band has also opened for The Rolling Stones in West Palm Beach at the Municipal Auditorium.
ARS released a few more notable albums such as A Rock and Roll Alternative (1976), Champagne Jam (1978), Underdog (1979), Are You Ready (1979), The Boys from Doraville (1980), and Quinella (1981).
