Astrix Information
Astrix is an Israeli producer and trance music DJ. He was born in Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic, USSR. In 1997, he started making music under the stage name Astrix, occasionally considered a reference to the Asterix comic novels. According to an interview on the UK dancing website, the moniker was chosen because it sounded good and was not specifically motivated by anything. In 1995, Astrix began spinning alternative and 1980s music. He first became aware of electronic music during this period.
He used a personal computer to start his first in-house studio recordings in 1997. After being invited to a trance party in 1997, he learned about trance. In the late 1990s, at the start of his career, he created trance music in the "nitzhonot" style, an uptempo variation on Goa trance. "In Peace" and "Eakhis World," two of his earliest songs, were both included in the nitzhonot anthology Ptzatzot 3.
With his debut album, Eye to Eye, Astrix signed with the electronic dance music label HOM-Mega productions in 2002. Astrix said in a 2003 interview that he contributed to three Alien Project CDs, but the project's maintainer, Ari Linker, failed to give him credit. After the publication of Eye to Eye, Astrix went on tour and worked on other projects, which limited his time in the studio. It took him two years to write his second album, Artcore, which was released in 2004.
