Angel Dust is a rock band with the current lineup of the group consists of Brendan Yales (backing vocals and rhythm guitar), Daniel Fang (drums), Pat McCrory (backing vocals and lead guitar), and Justin Tripp (acoustic guitar and lead vocals). They frequently mix elements of pop, surf rock, grunge, and alternative rock into their songs. Xtra Raw, their 2013 demo, was reviewed by Kerrang! They were described as a "scrappy, lo-fi bundle of punk," although their later work was more melodious.
They have four albums out. They joined Roadrunner Records in 2018. They were one of the most significant bands in widening the definition of hardcore punk, according to Billboard in 2019. Pretty Buff, their album from 2019, was listed among the "25 Best Albums of 2019" by Kerrang! and the "50 Best Metal Albums of 2019" by Loudwire. The Lemonheads, The Replacements, The Feelies, the Bad Brains, the Violent Femmes, and Greg Sage were mentioned as influences. The band's 2019 album Pretty Buff contains several songs on Tripp's dog's passing.
