Angel Deradoorian Information
Angel Deradoorian (July 18, 1986) is an American musician. She was born in Los Angeles, California. At the private school she attended, Deradoorian was introduced to the violin and piano, and it was there that she developed an early passion for music at the age of five. Her parents are also artists, and her older sister Arlene often joins her on tour to play solo pieces. She dropped out of high school at 16 to pursue a career in music.
She relocated to Brooklyn and, in 2007, became a member of Dirty Projectors, playing a significant role in making their album Bitte Orca. She and her then-boyfriend, Avey Tare, relocated to Los Angeles in 2012. Lovepump United Records released Deradoorian's debut EP, Mind Raft, in 2009. She collaborated with Rostam Batmanglij (keyboardist for Vampire Weekend) and Wes Miles (singer for Ra Ra Riot) in 2009 to create a song for their LP Discovery. "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" is the name of the song.
Her talent was recognized in 2011 when Animal Collective invited her to play at the All Tomorrow's Parties festival they organized. In 2011, she and Albert McCloud released a split 7-inch featuring their respective songs "Planetarium 2010" and "Marichka." Enter the Slasher House was her 2014 album with Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks, on which she also played drums alongside Jeremy Hyman, formerly of Ponytail.
